Entrance to Tryon Life Farm |
My friend Jenny has a farm in Portland. She and others in the community rallied to purchase the land form developers. Now they run a sustainable living center on the site. There is also an intentional community, of which Jenny is a part.

It was great to see the folks there...and to learn more about how they make it work. We arrived just as the community dinner was coming to the table. They had a GIANORMOUS lazy (efficiency) susan in the center to pass food around easily.

Jenny's Shack |
Different folks lived in different spots tucked away throughout the property. Jenny has been working on adding cob and earth to an old shack where she lives. It was incredibly well-insulated and had a calm, earthy feel to it.
There were a lot of community areas throughout the property...both for gatherings of the community at large, as well as the community that lives there.

When we went to leave, we discovered the parking set-up. It's like a jigsaw puzzle....you have to work your car out of the space by moving all the cars in the way. Quite a challenge!
That said, it was an incredibly peaceful place. We were thrilled to have the chance to visit.
Thanks, Jenny!
